What Are Cheek Fillers?

Cheek Fillers are non-invasive injectable treatments designed to add volume and definition to your cheeks. They are especially popular to help restore volume loss caused by ageing or to help carefully rejuvenate your features in order to balance your overall facial proportions. Cheek Fillers are also useful if you want to correct sagging skin or slight hollowness on your lower to mid face, improve the appearance of nasolabial folds (laugh lines), or simply wish to enhance your under eye and smile line area.

Are Cheek Dermal Fillers For You?

We always highly recommend you book a consultation before booking a Cheek Filler treatment to help us ensure that you are a great candidate for this non-invasive procedure. However, just to give you a general idea, you can generally start with Cheek Fillers in your 20s or 30s. Some people start using dermal fillers in their mid-20s to prevent deeper wrinkles from forming.

Others use them to enhance natural features, like fuller lips or defined cheekbones. In your 30s and 40s, cheek fillers can help address more noticeable signs of ageing, like deeper lines and volume loss. In your 50s and beyond, your body produces less collagen and elastin causes your skin’s elasticity to decrease. This leads to more pronounced sagging and wrinkles, making Cheek Fillers a very popular non-invasive choice since they offer minimal downtime and significant results.

How Fillers Work

Cheek Fillers are typically formulated with biocompatible substances that help reduce the chances of allergic reactions from occurring. However, always discuss your medical history during your one-on-one consultation with one of your practitioners to ensure that a dermal filler procedure is safe for you.

Most dermal fillers add volume and smoothness to the areas of concern, effectively revitalising the skin’s appearance. Cheek Fillers are designed to not only restore youthful plumpness but also lift and contour the cheeks, creating a beautifully sculpted and defined look.

I have been a returning customer to Artistry Clinic for a number of years. My first treatment was for nose reshaping, I was so happy with the results, I have since returned multiple times and have expanded to receive other filler based treatment. I am always made to feel comfortable and have absolute confidence in the results every time.

Procedure

Consultation:

During your consultation with one of our skin experts, we will assess your facial structure, skin condition, and the areas you wish to enhance. We then proceed by creating a personalised treatment plan based on your goals and needs. Our skin specialist will discuss the entire treatment process, and recommend the most suitable type of filler and volume required.

Preparation:

Once you have decided to proceed with the process, we highly recommend you stop taking blood-thinning medications a few days before treatment (unless advised otherwise by your doctor). We also recommend you to refrain from alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising.

Application:

A Cheek Filler treatment is relatively quick. It typically only takes between 20 to 40 minutes to complete (depending on the area treated). During your procedure, we will start by cleaning the area to be injected to remove any bacteria or debris. A topical numbing cream will also be applied to help minimise any discomfort. We then administer your Cheek Filler carefully into specific areas of your cheeks. You will be shown the results immediately and adjustments can be made if necessary.

Aftercare:

Proper aftercare is crucial to achieving the best results and minimising side effects. You should typically avoid touching the injected/treated area for at least 24 hours. It is advised that you stay upright for at least 4 to 6 hours after treatment to prevent filler migration. We also advise you to avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, or hot showers for 48 hours to reduce swelling and bruising.

FAQ

Cheek Fillers are considered to be very safe when performed by a qualified and experienced practitioner. Our skincare professionals understand facial anatomy, ensuring your filler is injected in the correct areas to achieve natural-looking results. To further ensure your safety even more, only high-quality, medically approved fillers are used. However, as with any medical procedure, our skincare practitioner will discuss any and all risks during your one-on-one consultation.

Cheek Filler treatments are designed to be as comfortable as possible, we always apply a numbing cream to the treatment area before starting the procedure. Most of our patients typically report feeling a slight pinch or pressure rather than pain. If you are concerned about discomfort, your practitioner can discuss additional options to make you more comfortable.

To minimise the risk of infection or irritation, we recommend you wait at least 24 hours before applying any makeup to the treated area. This allows the tiny injection points to heal. This also reduces the likelihood of introducing bacteria to the treatment area.

Like any injectable treatment, Cheek Fillers may cause mild and temporary side effects that could include swelling, bruising, redness, or tenderness at the injection sites. These side effects usually subside within a few days to a week. To help minimise swelling and bruising, your practitioner may advise applying a cold compress or avoiding alcohol and strenuous activity for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment.

If you are struggling with sagging skin due to weight loss or ageing, cheek fillers can most definitely help. Cheek Fillers can help improve the appearance of sagging skin by restoring lost volume and providing a subtle lifting effect, creating a more youthful contour. While fillers can achieve significant improvements, those with more pronounced sagging may benefit from combining Cheek Fillers with other treatments, such as skin tightening or thread lifts, for optimal results. Our skincare professional will be able to help point you into the right treatment direction.
